Work Edit # : Dress down Friday denim

Work Edit # : Dress down Friday denim

I thought I would write a quick post about denim as I have bought so much of it lately. Namely in the form of high street jeans. Now, those of you who know me well, know that I never used to be a fan of high street denim. The fits used to be terrible, the quality was not great – and as a result they never used to last very long. But it appears that high street denim has come a long way since my days of not buying it. In the past 2 months alone I have bought 3 pairs of Zara jeans (you might have noticed that I have a Zara addiction if you follow my instagram). Their denim is fantastic. Really good quality, good stretch so you’re not walking like a tin man, and the style selection in store at the moment is amazing.

There are so many shapes, sizes, cuts and prints on jeans it’s hard to know which ones to buy. My recommendation is to go into the shop and try them on rather than buy online. You can’t really get a feel for the different fabrics, embroidery and sizes otherwise. Some of the Zara skinny jeans come up really small so it’s worth going a size up. Experiment with different styles and fits though. There’s lots of pearls and embroidery and in various different cuts from skinny legs to wide legs. I never thought I would buy jeans with pearls on, but as soon as I tried them on in the store, I loved them.

If you’re lucky enough to have ‘dress down Friday’ at work, jeans are a great wardrobe essential. Depending on how ‘dressed down’ you can go in the office, some of my high street picks below will be great. They can easily be paired with a nice cashmere knit, or white shirt or blouse and look effortlessly chic. All are fab with heels, flats and trainers too so you can really dress them up or down depending on your occasion.

So here’s my pic of the best high street denim out there at the moment, including the 3 Zara pairs that I have.

Happy shopping!

Lisa
