I think it’s fair to say that velvet is having a moment this season. It’s everywhere you look from shoes and bags, to skirts and dresses, there is no escaping it. It doesn’t matter if your budget is high street, or high end – there are endless options and colours to suit everyones tastes.
I can’t say that I owned much velvet before this year to be perfectly honest. A pair of shoes, and a skirt that i’ve purchased over the years. It wasn’t really my thing. That was until this seasons triumphant revival. I am now like a woman possessed. Give me all the velvet pieces in stores, god I even googled ‘velvet trousers’ the other day as I really want some black ones for work (found in LK Bennett by the way). My two personal favourite purchases have been ‘THAT’ dusty pink Topshop blazer (I know it’s sold out everywhere now sorry!) and my pom pom Aquazzuras (they are so cute on and the heel height is perfect).
So, if you’re like me (that woman possessed) then hopefully the edit below will help you out a little. If I can recommend you buy two velvet pieces it would definitely be a blazer (The black M&S one below is fabulous on) and a pair of heels like the dusty pink Sandro ones below. Both will be classic investment pieces for your wardrobe.
