Work Edit #3: High street sale hits

Work Edit #3: High street sale hits

The mid season sales have now finally hit stores, so I thought I would do a quick round up of my favourite work pieces that you can get hold of at a great price. If you’re like me and hate sale shopping with a passion (I literally cannot walk into a store and go through endless sale racks!), this online edit will hopefully help you out. This particular sale is a great time of year to stock up on some winter basics such as; cashmere, black trousers, coats/jackets and scarves. You can usually pick up some nice ankle boots too if you’re lucky (I got some at the Russell and Bromley sale last year that I have lived in all winter this year).

My go to brands for sale items are: Whistles, LK Bennett, Boden, Ted Baker, Anthrapologie and Zara. They generally have between 30-50% off and you can pick up some really good quality items at a steal. Whistles has a HUGE sale on at the moment, but you really need to try some of their pieces on to get a feel for the style and fit as I find some of their pieces have strange cuts.

I personally love bright pieces, so you will see a few in my edit below. Because I have lots of staple black, white, and grey pieces in my wardrobe, I know that I can easily pair them with brighter things to create a good outfit for work. So if you’re going for something bright, make sure you have some staples in your wardrobe first. The Boden cashmere jumpers are a fab wardrobe item for me. I have them in so many colours, and they wear so well – the quality is fantastic.

Finally, here are my top tips for navigating the sales:

  1. Get a list together of what you want/need – it’s so easy to be drawn into what’s on offer that you often forget what you need during the sales so you will end up buying something that you will never wear if you don’t plan ahead.
  2. What will you wear it with/to?  Plan outfits around the pieces that you want to buy. This way you will get much more wear out of them. If you can’t think of anything to wear it with or to, that generally means you shouldn’t buy it!
  3. Make sure you check the discount on offer – Sometimes brands can have a range of discounts applied to different items. Check the prices of everything before you buy as you may have chosen one piece at 50% off, and another that is only 20% off so not quite as good.
  4. Does it fit (really?) – We are all guilty of buying pieces in a size bigger or smaller in the sale because we LOVE it but they don’t have it in our size. Don’t do it, especially with shoes as they just won’t last. You will wear them once and then they will be pushed to the back of your wardrobe. With clothes, you can sometimes get away with getting something one size bigger and then have it altered. But unless you love it, it’s generally not worth it.

I hope you like the edit, please get in touch if you do buy anything, I’d love to know what you all get. Also check out my Instagram to spot the items that I have!

Happy Shopping
