So, it looks like the pleated midi skirt is here to stay for a while longer: hooray! I have so many in my wardrobe that I have collected over the years (for those who follow my Instagram you will have already gathered this!), so I couldn’t be happier that it’s sticking around. It’s an amazingly versatile wardrobe staple, and a key piece that will undoubtedly last for years if you choose wisely. The selection in stores at the moment is fantastic, but it’s knowing which ones to buy that will, 1: see you through to spring/summer. 2: be comfortable to wear (all about the elasticated waist ladies!) and 3: you can wear to work – ideally transitioning through to evening for a night out afterwards if you’re lucky.
This skirt is easily dressed up or down, and during the winter it was all about the knitwear pairing which works really well for the office too. However, now spring seems to have arrived (finally) it works really well with t-shirts, blouses and shirts. I personally love these skirts for work because you can wear them with flats or heels and they still look fabulous. It’s really easy to give them a professional or fashionable edge, and they are so flattering on.

Here’s my round up of the best ‘work midi’s’ that I’ve found and would wear myself (I have the leather and Anthropologie skirts). I love a bold print and a bit of colour so i’m probably a little more extraverted when it comes to wearing these. But if that doesn’t float your boat, there are plenty of plain ones out there too. Best of all, there is a skirt to suit every budget. I’ve put a few options here depending on whether you fancy something cheaper to try out the style first, or higher end if you know you love it.
