Fashion: The wedding guest edit

Fashion: The wedding guest edit

Wedding season is upon us, and if you’re anything like me you will have a fair few to attend over the summer. For such a glorious occasion, one needs to don an equally glorious outfit (without upstaging the bride of course!). A lovely summer dress is typically my go to staple for a wedding, but with so many outfit inspirations on Instagram these days, it’s hard to resit something a little different. Moreover, I think the days of wearing ‘formal’ wedding attire are over (unless there is a dress code, obviously) as more and more of us embrace our inner fashionistas.

So with that in mind, and after a few requests, I have put together some outfit inspirations for wedding season. Whether that be a beach wedding, city wedding, abroad or home, there is hopefully something for everyone here. I have deliberately veered away from the mainstream high street for this edit as there is too much of a risk factor in someone else turning up in the same outfit as you. I mean, can you imagine? I would just die! Instead, I’ve included a mix of high street accessories as you will see. And just to satisfy my Zara addiction, and for those of you who I also know are die hard fans, I have curated a small Zara edit at the end.

Happy shopping

To start with I have created some jumpsuit looks. These are really having a moment right now – there are some fab ones out there from high street to high-end and they can easily be dressed up or down with the right accessories.

The edit below is curated with more of a destination wedding in mind. Blue sunny skies and beaches. I actually wore the Whistles jumpsuit to a pre wedding dinner last week (you will see on my Instagram) and it was perfect for the occasion. It is also now on sale! Because these are all printed jumpsuits, I have chosen fairly plain accessories to accentuate them.

This second jumpsuit edit is more for city weddings. Lots of darker, deeper colours with more accessories.

Moving on to my wardrobe staples; dresses. All of these looks are so versatile and really can be dressed up or down for different occasions. I have created the edit below for city weddings, again with some deeper colour accents.

In contrast to a city wedding, below is a selection of looks for a summer destination wedding. Much brighter colours for the dresses (especially great with a tan!), and nude accessories to tone everything down and make the dresses really stand out.

My final edit is the culotte. Very much in the spotlight this summer, along with jumpsuits – almost every designer has a variation of sorts, plain and printed. If you’re going for printed culottes, wear a plain top, and vice versa. Otherwise I think the outfit is too much of a statement for a wedding.

The quick Zara edit: Simply because I couldn’t resist – and most of this is now in sale – happy shopping!

Such a great round up. I love the idea of wearing a jumpsuit and heels to a wedding.
