Skincare Hero’s

Firstly, Happy New Year everyone! I feel like I could say that for the whole of January, with the new year really starting in February – anyone else? Anyway, this is my first blog post in 2020, so I thought I would make it a good one.

This year for me is all about refocussing on my health – in every way. Mind, body and skincare. Last year it was totally neglected after having our darling baby girl (worth it I know). I think it goes without saying that anyone with a newborn does not have time to focus on themselves for the first year (or much thereafter to be honest!). But This year I made a promise to at least try to spend a little bit of time on me, because it is so important. Happy mummy = happy baby, we all know that.

With this in mind, you will see some new content over the coming months focussing more on lifestyle – health, beauty and fitness. I do not proclaim to be a master of any of these, but I do like to try new things, and if I love something, you will be the first to hear about it. So first up is beauty, and in particular, the products that I love, some new, some old, but either way, they are my current hero’s.

1. La Mer moisturising soft lotion

This is the cream of the crop (literally), and it does have a hefty price tag to go with it. However, I have been using it for years and have not yet found anything else that comes close. It is just the right thickness for my skin (I have combination skin that is dry in the winter and a bit oily in the summer). I only use it in the mornings so it does last for a really long time. Also, you can get it at most airports with 20% off!

2. Tan-Luxe Super Glow

This has been a game changer for me. I use it roughly once a week (typically on a Monday morning) and I put it underneath my moisturiser. The tan then gradually develops throughout the day and lasts for most of the week for me. Given that my face is usually the palest part of my body, I have loved using this in the winter months

3. Elemental Herbology skin resurfacing pads

I absolutely love these pads by Elemental Herbology. They are basically a really gentle exfoliator using natural acids, and make your skin feel super clean after you’ve used them. I use these around three times a week in the evening.

4. Skinceuticals Glycolic 10 Renew Overnight

I have been a huge fan of Skinceuticals products for many years, and this glycolic overnight renewal is amazing. The main aim is to make you look more radiant in the morning and it genuinely works. I use it 2-3 times a week, and apply a facial oil on the nights in between.

5. Elemis Frangipani body oil

The best body oil on the market in my opinion, and another product that I have been using for years. Not only does it smell utterly divine, but it also feels amazing. It’s not too thick or greasy on your skin, and it’s perfect for me throughout all seasons – summer through to winter. A star buy!

5. La Mer Lip balm

The ultimate lip balm. Super soft, neutral coloured, and only a light flavour. This actually works deep into your lips unlike a lot of other lip balms that just sit on the top. The pot also is perfect for a handbag.

6. Erborian CC cream

Erborian is a relatively new skincare brand to me, and I was very kindly sent some of their products to try last year. I have never used foundation (because I just can’t apply it), so the CC cream which is much lighter like a moisturiser really appealed to me. I use the Dore colour and pop it on post face wash in the morning after my usual moisturiser (though you could probably use it without). It really adds a lovely dewy texture to my skin, whilst at the same time gives really good even coverage. But most importantly, it makes me look more awake!
