All that glitters: the party wear edit

All that glitters: the party wear edit

Party season is almost upon us, and if you’re anything like me, you will have been looking for something to wear since… well last Christmas! Do you go for long or short, velvet or sequins, red or black? The decisions are endless and there is so much choice in the shops and online these days. So, of course I have (hopefully) done a lot of the hard work for you and put together an edit of my favourite pieces for this year’s festivities. I’ve split them into a few sections: Midi’s and Maxi’s, the Little Black Dress (LBD), All that Glitters and finally Skirts and Tops.

I’m a huge fan of maxi and midi dresses. Maxi’s especially give a more classic, timeless look, especially if you go for something in black which will last forever. Midi’s are flattering on almost everyone – although I wouldn’t recommend if you’re really short, unless you wear some super flattering high heels.

The LBD is a party season classic and you will find a different twist on it in almost every store these days. If you’re going for this, the key is to go for something slightly different. You can bet your bottom dollar that 90% of women going to a party will opt for some form of LBD so to avoid completely blending in (because who wants to do to that at a party!), find something with a little twist.

Sequins and sparkles are a Christmas party essential. Even if you don’t wear them in a dress or skirt form, they are fab to add in as accessories in the form of a handbag or shoes. I’ve also added a leopard print Ganni dress into this section, simply because I love it, and leopard print is always fab at this time of year.

Finally, i’ve added in some skirts and tops. Almost all are embellished with sequins, because I think you can mix them with a plain item. e.g. the sequin skirt with a velvet top or the sequin top with a velvet skirt/trousers combo will look amazing. Never underestimate the power of a bit of sparkle. I’ve also added in the Rixo midi skirt because I absolutely love the print and the Olivia Rubin ‘Jessica’ skirt because the cut is divine and a little different.

I do hope you can all find something that you like in the edit. Enjoy all your Christmas festivities – I am sure with one of these you will be the belle of the ball.
